Forklift certifications generally last for two or three years, however this does not mean that further training is not required after the person has obtained their forklift certification.
The operator may require refresher training, for example, in order to ensure that they continue to operate forklift trucks safely over the long term. Further training may be required if the forklift operator has been involved in an accident or it is seen by the organization they are working for that they are operating the forklift in an unsafe manner. Organizations can be fined up to $7000 per untrained operator, so from an employers point of view it is absolutely imperative that they ensure all operative employees are properly certified to use forklift trucks.
